Been thinking of getting a new laptop/desktop with the next-generation chip? Yes, your wait is almost over. For the better battery life and performance improvement, Intel Ivy Bridge is arriving in April, which a report on CPU World says that this processor seems to be the fastest quad-core model.
These next generation chips are the Core i7 and Core i7 Extreme families of mobile processors and Core i5-3570K, i5-3570T, i5-3550, i5-3550S, i5-3450 and i5-3450S desktop processors. For the Ivy Bridge Core i7 processors, there’s a 5% to 15% increase in CPU performance and a whopping 20% to 50% improvement on the graphics side—wow, really a huge plus for gamers.
Meanwhile, other Ivy Bridge chips, including the dual-core Core i5 and Core i7 mobile processors and Core i5-3570, i5-3570S, i5-3475S, i5-3470, i5-3470S and i5-3470T desktop CPUs will be available in early June. This may coincide with the Computex Electronics Trade Show in Taipei this coming June 5-9, a prime time for laptop manufacturers to show off their new laptops with these fast and high-end processors.
But wait, you can still have a more budget-friendly laptop or desktop, the dual-core Ivy Bridge Core i3 chips which are expected to arrive later this year just in time for the holiday season.
