Guys, here’s another giant news following Google-Motorola deal last week. A leak came out from unnamed source that says Facebook is expected to release its own smartphone by 2013. And at this point, sources say that there are a number of Facebook employees who have been briefed about this while at least six former Apple software and hardware engineers who have worked on iPhone and iPad have already been hired to work on this. Wow!

If you may recall, AllThingsD reported in November that Facebook tapped HTC to make a smartphone integrating social network which was followed through by DigiTimes report saying that HTC was already working on it with Facebook which the phone is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2012. Also, during the Mobile World Congress in Feb. 2011, HTC launched two new smartphones with two Facebook dedicated buttons.
Another interesting story is that, pending Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram, it’s just this week that it has already rolled out its own Facebook Camera, alongside with its Facebook Messages app and Facebook app store. Facebook is also interested in buying the Opera.
So, rather than going against Apple, it’s gonna be FB’s smartphones vs. Google’s Android phones. Sounds a giant competition, what do you think?
