Cisco Philippines Unveils Latest Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers

by Gerald dela CruzJuly 7, 2012

Imagine your home Wi-Fi router being remotely accessible from wherever you are. Thanks to the innovative creativity of Cisco as they recently unveiled the new line of Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers (EA4500, EA3500 and EA2700) which caters the new software platform “Cisco Connect Cloud.”

So what can you do when you try to remotely access your Smart Wi-Fi router using your mobile device? (oh yes, using your iPhone, iPad or any Android device) Let’s highlight the apps:

Cisco Block the Bad Stuff

Block the Bad Stuff
You’re at the office and your son (or whoever is using your computer at home) is visiting malicious sites on the internet (and possibly enjoying it haha). Worry no more because you can now remotely access your home wi-fi router and easily filter the sites that can only be accessed.

You can choose from three available filter levels which intelligently block security vulnerable sites, sites with adult content and other non-family friendly sites.

hip playHipPlay

This program allows users to play, beam, share photos, music, videos on their phone, tablet, PC, Mac or Smart TV that are stored on the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi router whenever and wherever they are. How cool is that?

Gemini IP Camera Viewer

The next big thing about this smart Wi-Fi router is about the real world security. This app enables home monitoring straight from your mobile device, may it be a Smartphone or tablet, via wi-fi or via cellular network. With this app, your teenager son can no longer bring his girlfriend in your home while you are away. ;)

Twonky Video

Browse an online video using your Smartphone then magically “beam” the video into your Smart TV or any AirPlay device (yes, like a wizard!). This app is so cool; you may not like the icon though.

Device Monitoring

You may be out of bandwidth due to so many devices accessing your Wi-Fi connection. You can now be a spectator of your own network by watching the devices that are connected to your Smart Wi-Fi router. Get real-time status and receive notifications and updates from those devices such as what device is connected and how long it’s been online.

Your uber brainy son has just failed half of his subjects in school because of being addicted to Mark Zuckerberg’s invention, Facebook. You then want to ban the Facebook from being accessed in your home network; however, your wife is also addicted to it. Stop crying because the solution is here.

With Netproofer, you can easily restrict the access to specific websites either for all users or per specific device. So block your son’s laptop and iPhone from accessing Facebook while allowing your wife to fb chat with your bestfriend. Cool ayt?
