Gamers, as the Tokyo Game Show wraps up today, a lot of news came out saying that console and handheld games that most of us are fans of (of course I’m one) turned out to be outnumbered by those games for smartphones and tablets.

Surprisingly, a total of 715 games are shown in the display and here’s a list showing the number of games on each platform:
- iOS/Android Phones & Tablets – 365
- Other smartphones – 142
- PlayStation – 357
- Nintendo 3DS – 34
- PC – 32
- PSP – 30
- PlayStation Vita – 24
- Xbox 360 – 24
- Wii – 5
- Wii U – 2
And out of these 715 games, 507 or 71% are for iOS, Android, other smartphones and tablets. It’s a bit surprising that only 88 are handheld games on PSP, PSPVita, and 3DS or 12% of the show. Set-top consoles including Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360 and PS3 plus the PC combined account to 17% or 120 games.
With this turn out, it is most likely true that the PS3 and Xbox 360 are both nearing to end their turn. Though, maybe the next game show in 2013 would be the next cycle for new console and handheld games launches despite this unstoppable creation of mobile games.
