Announced last month and on display for the first time at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Android-powered Sony Xperia Tablet Z is 6.9mm thick, Sony says it’s the thinnest 10.1 inch tablet on the market, and it weighs just 1.09lb.
Sony Xperia Tablet Z includes the very best of Sony technology. With a 10.1 inch full-HD Reality Display, powered by Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2, it delivers enhanced color reproduction for a brilliant TV-like viewing experience. It has an infrared port, which lets it serve as a universal remote.
Sony Xperia Tablet Z sports a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and a full HD resolution of 1920×1080. The rear camera packs 8 megapixels, and the camera app is modeled on the interface which Sony uses for its standalone digital cameras. It comes with four speakers and is ‘Playstation Certified’ for mobile games. It’s also water resistant, and its internals will remain dry in three feet of water for up to 30 minutes.
Sony has carried over the minimal design used for the Xperia Z smartphone to the Tablet Z. Aside from WiFi only model, there will also be a 4G LTE version, for anyone that has to always be connected.
Price starts at $499 for 16GB, and $599 for 32GB (Wi-Fi Only models) 32GB 4G LTE price is $750 and will be available this Q2 of 2013.
