Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0 – Our Take, Unboxing Video and Review
Taragis! – it’s here, the Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0. It’s really amazing how Cherry Mobile evolved from a P1 calculator-look featured phone to a most promising ever demanding android phones, attuned with its vision to bring value to everyone’s lifestyle, Cherry Mobile continuously strives to bring in products with the latest technology and specs at the most competitive price.
The Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0 is an updated version of the phenomenal cheapest dual core of 2012 – Flare. Now dubbed as the Quad Core ng Bayan, Flare 2.0 is powered by 1.2Ghz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8225Q that is a based on Cortex A5 which basically has less power hungry architecture and is using 28nanometer process technology, which technically maintains longer battery life. The processor is also coupled with Adreno 203 GPU with a render rate of 49 million pixels per second, and pixel fill rate of 0.3 Gpixels per second. It isn’t a winner GPU but considering the device’s price, it’s beyond best choice.
Though it has only 512MB RAM, which others see at as its downside, flipping from home screen to apps drawer as well as browsing multiple pages from its native browser is relatively smooth. Running multiple apps isn’t also an issue. I run some basic application such as Facebook and Skype and it both works perfectly. Of course for Php 3,999 don’t expect a hard core gaming smartphone here, but don’t worry Temple Run and other basic popular games which you can find at Google Play Store will run smoothly, and yup Dungeon Hunter 4 is also ok with this device. =)
Just like the first Flare, the Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0 maintained its 4-inch capacitive touch screen with 800×480 pixel at 233ppi. It’s aesthetically brilliant, though not that crisp, the display color is vivid and could really catch up with other 4 incher smartphones. The display is fair enough to see everything in the screen even if you’re using it outdoor or in with direct sunlight. If you’re a new android user, the 4-inch size is perfect enough that you can hold it in your palm without giving any strain in your hand, it is ideal for single handed operation.
What I like most about this device is its being light and handy. It also comes in Black or White color, the back panel is now a glossy plastic material, compared to a matte finished of the first Flare. The device features two buttons on each side, the power button on the upper right side and volume rocker on upper left side. And on its top edge, you’ll find power port for the wall charger and a 3.5 mm jack for your headphone. Honestly, it looks premium, the white version that we reviewed has a silver lining around its body which gives metallic impression. The feel is solid, I didn’t hear any squeaky or creaky sounds while pressing parts of its casing, the whole thing looks durable.
Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0 Unboxing Video
With Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0,you’ll get a smartphone with a decent 5 megapixel rear camera and VGA at front. The pictures and videos taken from its rear camera could really speak of its capability of rendering images with quality. Based on the sample shots that I took, its 5MP camera is not overrated, it produces images that are beyond expectation. Pictures taken in outdoor lighting are clear and colors are true to life. And another plus, it can record video at real 720p high definition format.

Yup, it’s an upgraded Flare, which obviously has a four core processors – much faster, much powerful, but sadly Cherry Mobile opt out to equip it with larger battery capacity (and there’s a reason behind it, blame the Flare 2X –taragis!). The 1,550mAh is surely not enough to power you for a whole day operation in WiFi mode or in 3G. Though I managed to let the device lasted a day but it’s with minimal internet use. But if you’re just a casual smartphone user, you won’t have any issue with this one.
