O+ Xfinit Unboxing Video and Review

Looking for a new smartphone this new year? Well, we are so thrilled to announce that O+ USA released a few units to feast our eyes on shortly after Christmas, and guess what? Yes geeks, they’re already out in the market!

Here at, we were able to try the first O Plus smartphone with a 3GB RAM – the O+ Xfinit. Looks like O Plus is continuously outdoing itself, huh! Well, let’s see what you can say after this review.

The Xfinit’s overall look is fascinating, especially if you get it in bronze. Though it appears to be like the stereotype O Plus phones, we think its color made it more attractive over other smartphones of the same price range.

The device has a 5-inch HD IPS display with 720×1280 resolution and 294dpi. Display’s color is good and vivid, we must say. Viewing angles is commendable, too. Its front screen is like the usual smartphone with all glass touch screen and 3 capacitive buttons that, unfortunately, do not light up when touched so it will need a little getting used to, to get the hang of it.

On the right side of the device is where the power/lock button and volume rocker buttons are located.

At the top is where you can see the 3.55mm audio jack while at the bottom is the USB port.

The side of the device is what gives the phone the stylish look for it presents a two-tone combination of bronze and silver. The plastic back plate is removable. Its bronze color has a smooth glittery look, which helps finger prints not to appear too visible in one swift look.

The speaker grill is also found in the back, which produces decent sound by the way, either using earphones or just the normal stereo speaker. It can smoothly fill up a small room with good sounds coming only from the phone’s back speaker.

At the upper middle of the back side of the Xfinit is where the 8.0mp autofocus main camera is located, and next to it is the LED flash.

The device produces photos like what you expect from a smartphone with the same MP resolution. The rear camera relies on light while shooting, just like the usual. So you can expect to have images with exposure problems, etc. But nothing that editing cannot resolve.

Xfinit’s camera also has beautify mode for self-portraits, panorama mode, multi angle view mode that creates somewhat like a sphere photo that can capture from one angle then rotates 360 degrees horizontally and back to where you started (more like twice what the panorama can capture), motion track mode, live photo mode, and peace-to-selfie, among others. The 5.0 MP front camera offers the same thing.

Hardware-wise, the O+ Xfinit sports a massive 3GB RAM (O+’s first, just saying! hehe) and runs on a quad-core MT6573 processor clocking in at 1.0GHz and using a Mali T720 GPU. For a device with such a huge memory, we believe it would be a lot better if the processor is a bit advanced than what it is, to be able to maximize this 3GB RAM. We did experience quite a few lags, especially when a lot of applications are open, add the WiFi that is on.

Software-wise, the phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Navigating from one application to another can be smoothly done, the same as moving from screen to screen. It also comes with features such as Air Shuffle, SMS Import/Export and Anti Theft.

Battery life is normal for a device with a 2,000mAH. Two and half hours of surfing the net using the WiFi ate up 40% of the battery during our review. Playing games that are not too heavy for an hour used 28 percent. If you’re a heavy user of net and games, an average of two charging a day is needed. However, if the phone’s gonna be used only for calls and messages, it will survive for two days.

Xfinit has a huge 32GB internal storage, which can still be expanded up to 64GB. And take note geeks, a 32GB microSD card is provided when you buy one unit now!

The device is a dual SIM dual standby phone. And you know what’s better? It supports 4G/LTE connectivity and a quad-band GSM making it functional abroad. It also comes complete with basic connectivity options: WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS and sensors such as Gravity, Proximity and Light Sensor.
