Asus Zenfone AR launched in PH with Tricam, 8GB RAM, priced at P45K
Asus has brought in Zenfone AR – the world’s first smartphone to come with both the Tango Augemented Reality and Daydream Virtual Reality technologies in the Philippines.
Priced at 44,995 pesos, the Asus ZenFone AR is designed around machine vision with a camera and sensor setup that provides motion tracking, depth perception, and area learning.
It is equipped with innovative ASUS TriCam system — a three-camera system consisting of a 23MP PixelMaster 3.0 main camera, a motion-tracking camera, and a depth-sensing camera that meet Tango specifications. The depth-sensing camera lets ZenFone AR determine its distance from objects by projecting an infrared (IR) laser and measuring the amount of time it takes for IR light to bounce off objects and return to the phone. The 23 MP PixelMaster 3.0 camera features a Sony IMX 318 image sensor to vividly capture the environment as a backdrop for AR experiences. It is also equipped with 8-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an 85-degree wide angle lens.
As for the display, it sports a 5.7-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display which is likely to play major role in virtual reality. The augmented reality phone also feature a fingerprint scanner at the front embedded in the home button. Under the hood, Asus ZenFone AR packs the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor that the company claims has been customized for Tango. It also feature desktop-class Qualcomm Adreno 530 graphics-processing unit (GPU) and the world’s first 8GB RAM phone.

ZenFone AR also comes with ASUS SonicMaster 3.0 technology. A five-magnet speaker driven by a powerful NXP smart amplifier delivers clear, expansive sound that can be played at high volumes without distortion. ZenFone AR can also output certified High-Resolution Audio (HRA) to compatible devices at 24-bit/192kHz — or 4X CD-quality. DTS Headphone:X provides virtual 7.1-channel surround sound for immersive entertainment experiences.
To be available in the Philippines starting July, Zenfone AR runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS and includes 128GB of inbuilt storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB) in a hybrid dual-SIM (Micro+Nano) configuration. Fueling the device is the 3300mAh battery.
