BEWARE: Phishing Emails Targeting BPI Clients

The recent BPI’s system glitch outbreak has re-emerged some email phishing scams meant to prey on unsuspecting BPI Express Online users. These Phishing e-mails are sent to trick targeted individuals into revealing personal and financial information.

Phishing scams are attempts by scammers to trick you into giving out your personal information such as your bank account numbers, passwords and credit card numbers.

Privacy Commissioner’s Reminder: Be Safe Online During Holy Week

National Privacy Commission reminds Business and Government Agencies to Secure Data Processing Systems and for Individuals to be Safe Online for Holy Week.

The National Privacy Commission (NPC) issued an advisory for Data Protection Officers (DPO) reminding them to secure data processing systems for the upcoming Holy Week long weekend, in order to prevent the duplication of the COMELEC data breach which happened during Holy Week 2016.

Designate Data Protection Officer – National Privacy Commission

The Philippines’ National Privacy Commission issued an advisory mandating all PH companies, private and public to designate a Data Protection Officer.

“Pursuant to Section 26(a) of the IRR, any natural or juridical person or other body involved in the processing of personal data shall designate an individual or individuals who shall function as data protection officer (DPO), compliance officer, or shall otherwise be accountable for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations for the protection of data privacy and security”
