Ever since I was a kid, I was fascinated with flying. I remembered how I used to climb on every rooftop in our neighborhood just to do kite flying with my cousins. iFLY Dubai is not a ride or a simulator. It is a vertical wind tunnel (VWT) that moves air up in a vertical column offering the best possible flight experience for indoor skydiving. The air flow within the wind tunnels is totally controllable; this, combined with professional instructors, makes for the most exciting flight experience possible in a wind tunnel.

Experienced users will be able to execute twists, turns and somersaults in the specially constructed chamber, without having to leave the safety of terra firma.

The Wind Tunnel

iFLY Dubai has set a number of new boundaries in the vertical wind tunnel industry.

They are the world’s first double vertical wind tunnel and the first to attach itself to a mall. It can raise you up to 3 meters in the air. iFLY Dubai also incorporates air conditioning to keep flyers cool while they are soaring to new heights. The wind tunnel is an amazing 10 meters tall with acrylic glass wall!

The state of the art patented technology ensures high degree of safety and accommodates all types of flyers from beginners to seasoned professionals.

They have qualified instructors who will ensure flight experience in a controlled environment, providing you just the right amount of air flow for the utmost flight enjoyment.

Each Wind tunnel has:

1. 2 gigantic fans of more than 3 meters diameters.
2. 2 x 400 horsepower fans so a total of 800 horsepower by tunnel! Can blow a wind up to 200kph.
3. A crystal clear acrylic tube of 10m high, 3 meters diameter.
4. A pressurized staging area which can fit up to 12 flyers at one time.
5. A DVD/photo system to record your flights which allows you to take a souvenir of your experience home.

After the experience, I got that nostalgic feeling when I was a kid that anything is possible now that technology has the means to provide it for us. It just felt so surreal and I feel like I’m just another superhero trying to conquer gravity, simply awesome!
