Geeks, are you fond of making doodle? am not. lol though I love scribbling anything on my notepad especially when seated over long hours of meeting (shhh). But this time, not anymore with notepads but with my new iPad mini and I’m looking for a better stylus that will perfectly match and won’t scratch my new toy. Lucky enough, our friend from Digits let me try to use and experience this Adonit Jot Touch stylus.
Though Adonit Jot Touch costs P4,450, it looks more elegant than a typical stylus pen. At 5-5/8″ long, this device is made from metal barrel with cylindrical rubberized grip, which features two slightly balky action buttons. These buttons are usually set to undo and redo functions, but apps can customize them. And in the middle of these two buttons is the power button. Its best feature is the pressure-sensitive tip with precision disc allowing you to see exactly where you’re scribbling.
Adonit Jot Touch uses Bluetooth to connect with my iPad mini and pairing them was as simple as connecting pretty much any Bluetooth device. You simply press and hold the Jot Touch’s power button until its status light begins flashing red and green which means the Jot Touch is in pairing mode. Then you select the Touch in the Bluetooth screen of iOS’s Settings app.
Like any Bluetooth accessory, the Jot Touch is rechargeable and the package comes with a tiny magnetic USB charger where it magnetically snaps into place. While charging, the pen’s status light flashes red and turns green when fully charged. I charged the pen overnight and was able to use it for the entire week of testing. It automatically switches off once you’ve been idle for 15 minutes which helps the battery last longer. Replacement tip is also included in the package.
The Jot Touch has the longest list of supported apps, with more than a dozen on board including Procreate, Sketchbook Pro, and ArtStudio. This stylus had the lightest default pressure settings. Also note that the Jot Touch has almost the exact same body design as Adonit’s Jot Pro which doesn’t have the Bluetooth.
The Jot Touch allows more precision and works with the iPad 2, the new iPad and of course my iPad mini. And in general, this device lets you create beautiful images, creative and imaginative drawings, meaningful abstract of your scribble and doodles and definitely a worth companion of your tablet.
