Today, Globe Telecom is one step ahead from its rival. If you’re one of the 32 million Globe subscribers, consider yourself lucky. Starting October 31, 2013 until New Year’s Eve, Globe Telecom in collaboration with Facebook, will give FREE access to Facebook.
Globe Free Facebook
Available to all Globe Prepaid, Postpaid, and TM subscribers using feature phones and smartphones* and accessing either through the mobile site of Facebook or the Facebook app, users can post, like, comment, chat, add friends, upload photos, share posts, and more on Facebook without the need for Wi-Fi.
How does it work?
Your phone will not incur data charges whenever you access Facebook. Everything that is part of Facebook is free. And if ever you click something that isn’t part of Facebook (let’s say Youtube Video or News link) you will be notified that doing so may incur charges from your data plan or prepaid load. You will also be prompted to a one-click registration to the data plan of choice to continue browsing without having to leave the site. If run out of prepaid load, you can loan a 10MB data plan for only P10 which will be deducted on your next reload.
In a recent launch, Peter Bithos, Senior Advisor for Consumer Business at Globe Telecom said:
Once again, Globe has proven that it is the mobile data service provider of choice by industry and technology leaders around the world with this breakthrough partnership with Facebook to give our 36 million subscribers uninterrupted, seamless, and worry-free Free Facebook experience. This is collaboration at its peak, which has resulted in the best and most innovative Free Facebook.
Joining the event is Chris Daniels, vice president of partnership at Facebook. He restated:
“Facebook’s mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected,” “Globe understands the opportunities giving people access to the Internet brings and we’re thrilled to be working with them to give Globe subscribers access to Facebook without data charges across our apps and mobile website.”
He added that there is a big opportunity in the Philippines, which currently ranks 8th in the world in Facebook users, with an estimated 30 million people owning accounts.
“Philippines to us creates an enormous opportunity to connect to more people. There are a hundred million people in the Philippines and only about 30 million of them access the internet every month, so we need to connect more people there,” said Daniels.
Daniels added that the partnership with Globe was forged to connect to its 36 million subscribers.
“We found in Globe a partner who is at the leading edge of innovative companies and is willing to make it happen and we are very excited to bring free Facebook to Globe’s 36 million customers in the Philippines,” he said.
