MEC Networks Corporation, the country’s premier ICT distributor has officially launched its tie-up with Fortinet, network security market leader and worldwide provider of network security appliances with the aim of expanding the latter’s network security products in the Philippines.

With this partnership, MEC has been appointed the official distributor of Fortinet’s network security products in the country. Fortinet is then expected to cater to businesses of all sizes through MEC’s extensive local partner base. Fortinet’s network security package includes High Performance Firewalls for data centers, NGFW (Next Generation Firewall) for the enterprise edge, and UTM (Unified Threat Management) for distributed offices.
George Chang, Fortinet Vice President for Southeast Asia and Hongkong said,
Today, we are number two in Asia Pacific. And number one in my region – Southeast Asia and Hongkong in terms of most UTM (Unified Threat Management) appliances. Solution has gone from the small end to the big [corporations]. So we have solutions almost in every area. It is my belief that in the next two years, this year and next year, the security markets will peak in the country.
According to Chang, MEC is not only limited to distribution of ICT products but also to provide knowledge transfers and support services to its partners. “What we are planning for this year is to have more solid partnerships with all of our resellers. We want to have to ensure that our resellers’ partners will do more work in terms of reselling more values to our customers’ end. So we put more effort into trainings, more effort into marketing as part of our solution, and we get to launch a few core marketing programs together”, Chang noted.
