This is the first time I heard of a device that has 4,000 mAh of battery coming from a local brand. And guess what, it’s just below P5,000. Really, Cherry Mobile has outdone itself again. And as this new device’s name suggests, Cherry Mobile Flare S3 Power has a whopping huge power capacity.
The battery is non-removable and its life could last up to 3 days as per our review. I got to play with a review unit and I was able to prove such statement. With mild use of wifi, games and music, the device lasted for about 60 hours, roughly 3 days. Meanwhile, moderate use of this device kept it up for one and a half days.
Here’s a breakdown of the activities I did with the unit to test its so-called “power”: I played music for about 2 and a half hours and it ate up just 6% of the battery life. I watched a movie in full volume for less than 2 hours and the battery went from 87% to 64%. I played games like Candy Crush Soda Saga and Criminal Case (not plugging though. lol.) alternately with the WLAN on and few apps running in the background for approximately 1.5 hours and it consumed 21% of the battery. Not bad for a unit with 4,000 mAh battery life.
CM Flare S3 Power is a 5-inch smartphone that has a 1,280 x 720 pixels screen resolution, thereby making it a 720p HD screen. The colors are vibrant and not dull. And at 320 pixels per square inch (PPI), its screen is definitely sharper than the average touch screen phones. Its response to touch is exceptional.
The device appears thin considering its huge battery life. Normally, one would expect a larger unit with the juice that it comes with but Cherry Mobile has a way with things and it was really brilliant of it to be able to squeeze everything in such an average size smartphone. It’s kind of heavy though, compared to devices with the same size.
The unit’s back plate is made of removable flat black matte plastic. Its side is wrapped with gold-almost-bronze-colored lining which makes the device look elegant, stylish and of premium design.
On the top of the device is where the 3.5mm audio jack and USB port can be found. At the bottom is where the microphone is located.
Pretty much just like the usual smartphones in the market with the volume rocker positioned at the right side and the power button at the left.
Placed in the back is the speaker that plays sound with good quality. Taking into account that it has only one speaker, the sound it emancipates is loud but not wrecked. Sakto lang kumbaga.
CM Flare S3 Power is powered by MediaTek 6592 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz with 1 GB RAM. Software-wise, the device runs smoothly on Android 4.4 Kitkat.
With its 13 megapixel camera, it provides good quality pictures. Though there is this thing we call image noise or visual distortion, or more likely those grains that can be found in old photographs, during shoots. It’s specially emphasized while shooting with low light. But once the picture is taken, it automatically disappears. The 5mp front camera offers the same thing.
The phone has two SIM card slots, one regular and one micro, and its dual standby. It comes with an 8GB internal storage but it can be expanded up to 32GB by providing a microSD card. It’s also OTG ready.
Finally, I would say that more often than not, people these days would always want a device that could stay up longer sure enough to be missing the old Nokia phones which come with batteries that last for several days. If you’re one of them, this is the perfect device for you, but this time it’s Cherry Mobile. Grab yours now! CM Flare S3 Power is now available for just Php4,999.
